Collaboration with Georgia Agencies Once Again Leads to Narcotics Seizure

Agents with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division became aware of a drug trafficker operating within Cherokee County and subsequently opened an investigation. Through that investigation, agents determined that Loretta Huskins of Andrews was traveling to Georgia to obtain methamphetamine for distribution within Cherokee County.

In coordination with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office (NC), deputies and agents worked closely with the Marietta Police Department (GA). On June 24, 2026, the Marietta Police Department conducted a traffic stop involving Huskins. As a result of the stop, approximately one-half pound of methamphetamine was recovered from Huskins’ vehicle. Traveling with Huskins was Rose Cathey. The Marietta Police Department placed both individuals under arrest on drug trafficking charges.

On June 25th, 2026, Agents with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the residence of Huskins in Andrews. Agents recovered suspected Methamphetamine, digital scales, and packaging materials from the residence.

Sheriff Chris Wood commended the efforts of his agents, as well as the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Marietta Police Department, citing collaboration as essential to their mutual success.

Sheriff Wood stated, “Once again, we are proving that city, county, and state lines are not walls—they are opportunities for teamwork and collaboration. Building partnerships is essential to truly combat the flow of illegal narcotics. If you are trafficking drugs, keep an eye on your rearview mirror—that is where we will be.”

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
