Community Fundraiser Shoot to Support Clay County Lieutenant Andy Lundquist

Hayesville, NC – The Clay County Sheriff's Office is organizing a special handgun shooting event to raise funds for Lieutenant Andy Lundquist and his wife Shannon as Lundquist battles a serious medical condition.

Lundquist has dedicated decades of service to Clay County and surrounding communities as a firefighter, rescue squad member, EMT, and Forest Service officer. Known and loved by many for his commitment and character, he now faces significant medical challenges, prompting the local law enforcement and public safety community to step up in support.

A “Shoot for Andy” handgun-only fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Range located at 9555 US 19, Marble, NC 28905. The event will run from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM and is open to both beginner and experienced shooters.

Participants will compete in two-person teams using semi-automatic handguns with two magazines. The registration fee is $50 per team. Eye and ear protection is required for safety. Organizers emphasize the event is designed to be welcoming and enjoyable for all skill levels.

Those interested in participating can register in one of two ways:

  • Pay cash in person at Cherokee Guns in Murphy

  • Visit www.shootforandy.com for online registration and additional details

Individuals who cannot attend or prefer not to shoot are encouraged to make a donation through the same channels. All proceeds will go directly to Andy and Shannon Lundquist to help cover medical expenses and provide support during this difficult time.

The community is invited to come together for a day of fun, friendly competition, and fellowship while showing support for a longtime public servant who has given so much to Clay County. For more information, visit www.shootforandy.com or the Clay County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
