Clay County Sheriff's Office

Press Release

On the afternoon of 12/23/25, Clay County Officer Donovan Burke and Investigator Steven Smith responded to 98 Snoozy Park Drive near Brasstown. This response came after a report of a possible overdose by woman undressing in the roadway. Clay County Emergency Management Services (EMS) was also dispatched to this location. The woman was identified as Cassidy Rae Groves, 20 years of age from Brasstown, and was reportedly in possession of a “loaded needle”.

A “loaded needle” is a street term for a needle and syringe containing a liquid drug ready for use. Groves was located fully dressed and examined by EMS. Groves was jumpy and could hardly stand still for this examination. As EMS was finished with Groves, Officer Burke saw her throw a “loaded needle” onto the ground. It was retrieved and its contents field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Groves was arrested and charged with felony Possession of Methamphetamine and issued a $10,000 bond for her release.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
