Hayesville, Clay County Gear Up for Fall Festivities with Music, Festivals and More in October

HAYESVILLE, N.C. — Residents and visitors in Hayesville and Clay County are set for a packed October calendar featuring theater productions, folk festivals, pumpkin-themed competitions and live music performances.


The lineup kicks off with the comedy "Wrong Window" at The Peacock theater. Shows are scheduled for Friday through Sunday, Oct. 3-5, and Oct. 10-12.


The John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown hosts its annual Fall Festival on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 4-5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.


On Friday, Oct. 17, the Clay County Chamber of Commerce sponsors a Chili Cookoff and Anything Pumpkin Competition on the town square starting at 6 p.m. That same evening, Corner Coffee and Wine presents an Open Mic Night at 6:30 p.m.

The Punkin Chunkin Festival returns to Brasstown on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18-19, running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Music enthusiasts can catch the Songwriters Showcase #57 at The Peacock on Friday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m., featuring performers Lily Winwood, Jess Woodland and Tyler Dodson, hosted by Rob Tiger.


A tribute to Johnny Cash, titled "Johnny Folsom," takes the Peacock stage on Friday, Oct. 24, at 7:30 p.m.


Wrapping up the month, the Beal Center holds a "Silent Auction Under the Stars" on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Later that evening, The Peacock presents "Stage Fright" ghost stories at 7:30 p.m.
