Hayesville explodes for season-high in rout of Hiwassee Dam

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better — just ask Hayesville. The Yellow Jackets delivered their most dominant performance of the season Tuesday, cruising to a 28-10 victory over Hiwassee Dam.

Hayesville’s offense erupted early and often, finishing with 12 hits and keeping constant pressure on the Eagles’ defense. The offensive outburst marked the team’s most commanding win so far this season and continued a trend of success when the bats are hot — the Yellow Jackets are now a perfect 5-0 when recording 11 or more hits.

Peyton McGaha led the charge with a standout performance at the plate. He reached base in five of his six appearances, blasting a home run while scoring five runs and driving in six. McGaha has proven to be a key factor in Hayesville’s success, as the team remains undefeated when he scores at least two runs.

Jackson Sellers also played a pivotal role, reaching base in all three of his plate appearances. He added three runs, three RBI, and a stolen base to help fuel the offensive surge.

With the win, Hayesville improved to 8-4 overall and extended its road winning streak to six games. The team’s success away from home has been powered largely by its offense, averaging 14 runs per game during that stretch.

Hiwassee Dam, meanwhile, continues to struggle, falling to 1-10 on the season and extending its losing streak to 10 games.

Hayesville will look to keep its momentum going with a matchup against Towns County at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Eagles will get another shot at the Yellow Jackets later this week, as the two teams are set to meet again Friday at 4:30 p.m.
