Hayesville Falls to Franklin, Looks to Bounce Back at Home

HAYESVILLE, N.C. — The Hayesville High School volleyball teams traveled to Franklin on Monday, Sept. 28, for a pair of non-conference matches and dropped both.

The junior varsity Yellow Jackets fell in two sets, 25-23 and 25-17. The opening frame was a tight one, with Hayesville staying within striking distance before Franklin closed it out. The Panthers pulled away in the second set.

Varsity followed and lost in three sets, 25-9, 25-22 and 25-13. Franklin jumped on Hayesville early in the first set. The Yellow Jackets made a stronger showing in the second, pushing the Panthers to 25-22, but could not force a fourth set. Franklin took the third set comfortably.

The loss drops the varsity Yellow Jackets to 11-9 overall.

Hayesville does not have long to dwell on the results. Both teams are back at home today, Tuesday, Sept. 29, for a Smoky Mountain Conference matchup against Rosman. Junior varsity starts at 5 p.m., with varsity to follow.
