Hayesville Runners Face Off with Bigger Schools

The Hayesville High School cross country teams traveled to the Tryon International Equestrian Center XC Course on Saturday, Sept. 26, for the Tryon Fall Cross Country Festival, lining up against a field that included larger schools.

The girls finished 11th of 13 teams. The boys finished 10th of 11 teams.

Makenna Moss led the Lady Yellowjackets, placing 13th overall in the varsity 5K in 21:13.90. Marlo Joyce was next in 48th at 24:06.70, followed by Annie Godfrey (68th, 26:07.00), Lily Gordon (77th, 27:20.40) and Kaelyn Cook (87th, 30:09.10).

Parker Hughes paced the boys, finishing 26th in 18:06.80. Porter Hood took 51st in 19:08.50. Jackson Dye was 55th in 19:33.80, Evan Burks 59th in 19:52.10, Garrison Boyer 75th in 21:14.30, Brandon Prieto-Rivera 82nd in 21:50.90 and Gage Brown 88th in 22:03.20.

The Yellow Jackets are next scheduled for the Kernersville Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 10.
