Hayesville Survives Five-Set Thriller Against Murphy

HAYESVILLE, N.C. — Hayesville wrapped up its regular season with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Murphy in a Smoky Mountain Conference volleyball matchup Thursday night at Hayesville High School.
The Lady Yellow Jackets dropped the first set 25-13 before bouncing back with a 25-16 victory in the second. After Murphy regained the lead with a 25-20 third-set win, Hayesville rallied to take the fourth 25-16 and sealed the match with a 15-8 tiebreaker — marking the team’s first five-set contest of the season.
With the win, Hayesville improved to 23-3 overall and 10-2 in conference play, while Murphy fell to 10-10 and 4-8 in the SMC.
Both teams now await seeding and scheduling for the upcoming Smoky Mountain Conference tournament.
