HAYESVILLE, N.C. — After a challenging start to the season, the Hayesville High School Lady Yellow Jackets soccer team is finally in the win column.
Hayesville earned its first victory of the 2026 campaign on April 13, defeating Blue Ridge Early College 2-0 on the road. The win snapped a seven-game losing streak to open the season and marked a turning point for the young squad.
The Lady Yellow Jackets had faced a difficult early schedule, dropping their first seven contests against Smoky Mountain 1A/2A Conference opponents, including losses to Swain County, Murphy, Cherokee, and Summit Charter Academy. Earlier in the season, the team sat at 0-7 following a 3-0 loss to Cherokee on March 30.
Despite the early struggles, Hayesville showed resilience, continuing to compete and improve each match. That persistence paid off Monday, as the team shut out Blue Ridge Early College for its first win, improving its overall record to 1-7.
With several games remaining on the schedule, including upcoming matchups against Andrews, Highlands, and Murphy, the Lady Yellow Jackets will look to build on the breakthrough performance and carry that momentum through the remainder of the season
