Mountain Lions Edge Emmanuel in First Roar War Matchup

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. | The Mountain Lions remained unbeaten on the season with a thrilling 3-2 road victory over Emmanuel in the inaugural Roar War matchup Wednesday evening at the Stephen Lee Complex. Young Harris struck early and held off a late push from the Lions to improve to 3-0-1 overall and 2-0 in Conference Carolinas play.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
The Mountain Lions wasted no time getting on the board, as Fredrik Berge scored just 20 seconds into the match off an assist from Filip Zander.
In the 21st minute, Zander added a goal of his own to double the lead for Young Harris.
Emmanuel responded quickly, with Colin Wedderburn scoring in the 22nd minute to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Young Harris extended its lead in the 59th minute when Alfredo Guerra found the back of the net, assisted by Bjarne Renner.
Just over a minute later, Emmanuel answered again with a goal from Christian Mata to make it 3-2.
Young Harris recorded 12 shots in the match, including six on goal, while Emmanuel tallied 14 shots with four on target.
The Lions attempted four corner kicks compared to one for the Mountain Lions.
Stathis Paplomatas played all 90 minutes in goal for Young Harris, recording two saves.
Fredrik Berge, Filip Zander, and Alfredo Guerra each scored their first goals of the season in the win.
