Mountain Lions Pick Up Three Wins in Chattanooga Weekend Slate

The Young Harris College Mountain Lions Softball team competed in a six-game weekend slate in Chattanooga, Tennessee, finishing with a 3–3 record against Union (TN), UVA Wise, Montevallo, West Florida, Palm Beach Atlantic, and UAH.
Young Harris opened the weekend with a 5–2 victory over Union before falling to UVA Wise later that evening. The Mountain Lions split Saturday's action with a loss to Montevallo, followed by a thrilling extra-inning, walk-off win over West Florida. On Sunday, Young Harris earned a 6–3 win over Palm Beach Atlantic before dropping a tightly contested 1–0 decision to UAH to close the tournament. The Mountain Lions now sit at 4-4 on the season through two weeks of action.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
Game 1: (Young Harris 5, Union 2)
Young Harris scored four runs in the top of the seventh to pull out a 5–2 win over Union.
Hannah Davis tied the game in the fifth when Shayla Pennington scored on an error, then Davis added a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Bailee Brown delivered the decisive swing with a three-RBI single that turned into a four-run inning.
Julia Moore earned the win with three scoreless innings in relief, striking out five.
Game 2: (UVA Wise 9, Young Harris 4)
UVA Wise pulled away late to defeat Young Harris 9–4.
The Cavaliers led 4–0 before YHC answered with two runs in the third on a two-RBI single from Gracie Hughes, then tied it 4–4 in the fourth with two unearned runs.
UVA Wise regained control with two runs in the fifth, two more in the sixth, and one in the seventh.
Olivia Shockley earned the win in relief, and Lakely Parrish took the loss.
Game 3: (Montevallo 6, Young Harris 3)
Montevallo built a 6–0 lead through five innings and held on for a 6–3 win.
Young Harris scored all three runs in the sixth, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Mallory Clark and an RBI single from Hannah Davis.
Julia Moore was tagged with the loss after going the distance, and Taylor Lloyd earned the win for Montevallo.
(Game 4: Young Harris 9, West Florida 8)
Young Harris outlasted West Florida 9–8 in eight innings, winning on a walk-off RBI single by Gracie Hughes.
Addie Heal homered and finished 3-for-4, while Shelby Duncan homered, and Shayla Pennington went 3-for-4 with a two-RBI double.
Isabella Pecorilli earned the win in relief with 3.2 scoreless innings after Natalie Paolino started the game.
(Game 5: Young Harris 6, Palm Beach Atlantic 3)
Young Harris jumped out to a 5–0 lead through two innings and defeated Palm Beach Atlantic 6–3.
Addie Heal drove in two runs with a pair of doubles, and Shelby Duncan added an RBI double in the first.
Lilly Jones earned the win, and Julia Moore picked up the save with 1.2 scoreless innings and three strikeouts.
Game 6: UAH 1, Young Harris 0 (Feb. 8)
UAH edged Young Harris 1–0 in a pitching duel, with the only run scoring in the second on an RBI reach-on-error.
Young Harris was held to two hits in game six.
Lakely Parrish went six innings and allowed one run (one earned) in the loss, while Megan Shurtz threw a complete-game shutout with eight strikeouts.

The Mountain Lions return to action on Tuesday (Feb. 10) as they play their home opener versus Lee University at the YHC Softball Field in Young Harris.
