MURPHY, N.C. — On Saturday, July 19, during the late evening hours, a coordinated response involving the Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Murphy Fire Department, Cherokee County Emergency Medical Services, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol addressed a serious motor vehicle accident on Joe Brown Highway. The incident, which included an intense vehicle fire down a steep embankment, prompted a swift and professional effort from all agencies involved.
The operator of the vehicle was transported by EMS for evaluation. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
