Murphy Bulldogs Shut Out Highlands in 8-0 Soccer Rout

MURPHY, N.C. — The Murphy Bulldogs extended their winning streak to four games with a dominant 8-0 victory over the Highlands Highlanders in a conference soccer match on Monday, Sept. 15.


The Bulldogs, who have not conceded a goal in their last four contests, showcased a formidable defense and potent offense. Murphy outscored opponents by an average of 7.3 goals during their winning streak, which includes shutout wins against Madison (6-0), Andrews (9-0), and Tri-County (7-0).


Monday’s win improved Murphy’s record to 4-2-1, solidifying their position in the conference standings. Highlands, meanwhile, suffered their first conference loss, dropping their conference record to 2-1 and their overall record to 2-6.


Both teams face inter-conference matchups next. Murphy will take on Summit Charter at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17 while Highlands will look to rebound against rival Andrews at 6 p.m. the same day.
