Murphy, NC

Murphy kept its momentum rolling Friday night in a hughe Smoky Mountain Conference game, edging Robbinsville 17-10 to notch its third straight win and improve to 5-2 on the season.

The Bulldogs’ victory marked the second straight time they’ve topped the Black Knights, repeating last November’s result in another hard-fought contest.

Murphy’s defense proved key in stifling a Robbinsville squad that entered the game on a four-game winning streak. The Black Knights slipped to 5-3 with the loss, their first setback in nearly a month.

With the win, Murphy continues its surge through conference play and will look to keep it going when it meets in-county rival Andrews at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct.17. Robbinsville will try to rebound against Rosman, also set for 7:30 p.m. Friday.
