Murphy Riverwalk Walking Series Announces 2026 Schedule


The Murphy Riverwalk walking program has released its 2026 calendar, inviting community members to participate in twice-weekly group walks aimed at promoting health, fitness and social connection.


Walks are scheduled each Tuesday and Thursday at 10 a.m., with participants meeting at the pavilion across from The Rock Gym in Murphy. The program runs from February through November, with no walks scheduled in December or January.


According to the schedule, walks will be held on the following dates:

  • February: 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26

  • March: 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26, 31

  • April: 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30

  • May: 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28

  • June: 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25, 30

  • July: 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30

  • August: 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27

  • September: 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29

  • October: 1, 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29

  • November: 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19


Organizers noted that during the last week of each month, walks will take place at a different location. Those alternate locations include the USFS Walking Track, Meeks Park, Andrews Heritage Park, Chatuge Dam, Cherokee Lake, the Nantahala Bikeway, Brasstown Riverwalk, Field of the Woods, the Franklin Greenway and Social at Shoebooties.


The program is supported by North Carolina Cooperative Extension and partner organizations. The Murphy Riverwalk walking series is open to the public.
