HAYESVILLE, N.C. — The Murphy High School varsity soccer team continued its dominant run in conference play, defeating Hayesville 2-0 in a home match on Monday, Sept. 29.

Murphy, ranked No. 271 in North Carolina and No. 18 in its class, improved to 7-2-1 overall and maintained a perfect 6-0 record in conference play. The Bulldogs showcased their offensive prowess, adding to their season total of 40 goals scored, while their defense held firm, allowing only six goals against all season.

Hayesville, ranked No. 427 in the state and No. 32 in its class, struggled to find its rhythm against Murphy’s stout defense. The Yellow Jackets fell to 3-3-1 overall and 3-3-1 in conference play, with their season goal tally at 11 scored and nine conceded.

With the win, Murphy strengthens its position atop the conference standings. The Bulldogs will square off with Tri-County on Wednesday, Oct. 1 while Hayesville looks to rebound in its next match, a home battle against Andrews n the same day.
