BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — The Union County Panthers suffered a 21-7 defeat against the Ringgold Tigers in a varsity football showdown Friday night, marking their sixth consecutive home loss dating back to last season.
The Panthers, still stinging from a 31-0 loss to Ringgold in October 2024, were unable to find redemption in this rematch. The defeat dropped Union County’s record to 1-6, while Ringgold improved to 5-2 with the victory.
Despite the loss, the Panthers showed fight in what was described as a true "cat-fight" on the field. However, Ringgold’s balanced attack proved too much for Union County to overcome.
Looking ahead, the Panthers will have some time to regroup before their next game against Coahulla Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 17. Meanwhile, Ringgold will return home to face North Murray on Friday at 7:30 p.m., where they’ll need to stay sharp against a Mountaineers squad that has scored at least 31 points in each of their last four games.
Both teams are eager to rally their home crowds as they prepare for their upcoming challenges.
