Press Release

On Thursday, September 3, 2025, Investigators with the Union County Sheriff’s Office were alerted of a possible theft of a Bobcat MT100 and single axle trailer from a local business here in town. The suspect in the case rented the equipment for use in Union County, but abruptly left the county (and eventually the State) with the equipment in tow.

Investigators began tracking the whereabouts of the equipment and immediately began coordinating efforts with other law enforcement agencies to get the suspect vehicle stopped. The Sheriff’s Office reached out to the Elmore County, Alabama Sheriff’s Office for assistance in the efforts. Investigators were quickly notified that the suspect vehicle was spotted in Elmore County.

The suspect was apprehended Tuesday, September 8, 2025, near Prattville, approximately 40 miles from Union County. All of the equipment was recovered, and the suspect is being transported back to Union County.

This equipment, valued near close to $40,000, was safely returned to Union County back to the hands of the rightful owners. We are appreciative of the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in stopping the suspect and helping to return this property.
