Rains miss Tri-County Racetrack; Friday program runs as scheduled

BRASSTOWN, N.C. — Heavy rains surrounded Tri-County Racetrack on Friday, Aug. 7, but somehow missed the quarter-mile clay oval, leaving the regular racing program unaffected by the weather.


The event featured Limited Late Models, 602 Crate Late Models, Hobby Sportsman, Street Stocks, Open Wheel Mods, Modified FWD, Stock FWD and Crown Vic divisions.


Jamie Oliver of Murphy led all the way to win the 25-lap Limited Late Models feature. Daniel Wilson of Tiger, Ga., finished second and Kip Cochran of Franklin was third. Oliver also set the quickest qualifying time at 12.886 seconds.


Cooper Twiggs of Murphy won the 20-lap 602 Crate Late Models feature from the pole. David McCoy of Franklin took second, and Chance Hughes of Murphy finished third. Twiggs was the fast qualifier at 14.181 seconds.

Tim Wright of Andrews captured the Hobby Sportsman feature, followed by Tristan Conley and Mark Conley, both of Murphy.


Roger Beaver of Murphy won the Street Stocks feature ahead of Aaron Ramsey of Murphy and Jaxon Hursey of Franklin.


Griffin Wilson of Waynesville took the Open Wheel Mods victory over Bobby Turner of Canton, Ga.

Trenton Moss of Murphy won the Modified Front Wheel Drive feature, with Matt Cordin of Murphy second.


Tristen Lovingood of Murphy claimed the Stock Front Wheel Drive win, and Jagger Tomkins of Canton won the Crown Vic feature.
