Search Warrant Leads to Trafficking Amount of Methamphetamine Seizure

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, with assistance from the Criminal Investigations Division, executed a search warrant on January 20, 2026, at a residence located at 244 West Saw Mill Road in Murphy.
The search warrant was the culmination of a lengthy investigation into drug trafficking activities within Cherokee County. As a result of the search, agents seized approximately 102 grams of methamphetamine, along with a variety of other scheduled controlled substances, including fentanyl, alprazolam, and Suboxone strips.
As a result of the investigation, the following individuals were arrested:
Glen Keven Beaver, of Murphy, was charged with:
• Trafficking in Methamphetamine
• Maintaining a Dwelling for Controlled Substances
• Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance
• Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance
• Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Beaver was not granted bond due to being out on pretrial release at the time of arrest.
Forest Shane Lynn, of Murphy, was charged with:
• Possession of Methamphetamine
• Possession of Fentanyl
• Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance
Lynn was issued a secured bond in the amount of $10,000.00 by a North Carolina Magistrate.
Sheriff Dustin Smith praised the work of his deputies and investigators, emphasizing the Sheriff’s Office’s continued dedication to identifying, investigating, and prosecuting individuals who bring illegal drugs into the Cherokee County community.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
