Songwriters Showcase 63 set Saturday at Hayesville’s Peacock Center

HAYESVILLE, N.C. — Three Southern songwriting acts will share the stage Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Peacock Performing Arts Center for Songwriters Showcase 63, the latest edition of the venue’s long-running songwriter series.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at 301 Church St. Local songwriter Rob Tiger hosts the evening, which is billed as an acoustic night of original songs and stories featuring Abe Partridge, Daniel Neihoff and Admiral Radio. The series is presented as a songwriter round rather than a traditional concert set.

Partridge, of Mobile, Alabama, is a singer-songwriter, visual artist and podcaster. A former preacher and Air Force veteran, he is known for the documentary podcast “Alabama Astronaut,” which records music from Appalachian holiness churches. American Songwriter has called him one of the most respected songwriters and folk artists in the Southeast.

Neihoff is a singer-songwriter from western Kentucky. Promoters describe his work as rooted in family storytelling and melody.

Admiral Radio is the South Carolina folk and Americana duo of Coty Hoover and Becca Smith. The husband-and-wife act is known for close harmonies and narrative songs. They have placed in national contests including Kerrville NewFolk and the MerleFest band competition and have shared bills with artists such as Del McCoury and Molly Tuttle.

Tiger, a Clay County songwriter, has hosted the Peacock series for years. The nonprofit Lilith Lidseen Performing Arts Foundation operates the 250-seat theater. The showcase typically runs about two to 2½ hours.

Tickets are $29.50 for adults, $26.50 for seniors 65 and older and for military and public-service patrons, $19.50 for high school and college students with ID, and $10.50 for children 12 and under. They are available at peacockperformingartscenter.thundertix.com or by calling 828-389-ARTS (2787).
