Towns County High School Runners Compete in Regional Cross Country Meet

HIAWASSEE, Ga. — Three runners from Towns County High School showcased their determination at a recent regional cross-country meet, competing against a strong field of athletes from across Northeast Georgia. The event, held on a challenging course, featured top performers from schools like North Hall, Buford, and Union County, with Towns County’s Jason Chavero, Emory Hardin, and Christopher Houser representing their school with grit.


Jason Chavero led the Towns County trio, finishing 149th with a time of 22:44.70. Emory Hardin followed, clocking 28:27.90 to place 188th, while Christopher Houser rounded out the group with a time of 33:11.90, finishing 191st. The meet saw 192 runners, with North Hall’s Max Young taking first at 16:39.50.


Despite not placing in the top tier, Towns County’s runners demonstrated resilience on a course known for its demanding terrain.


The meet highlighted the depth of talent in the region, with 10 schools represented in the top 50 finishers. Towns County’s athletes are focused on building momentum for future races. The team is set to compete next at the Southern Traditions Jamboree in Tallulah Falls on Sept. 11.
