Towns County Historical Society to Host Lantern-Lit Cemetery Tours

HIAWASSEE, Ga. — The Towns County Historical Society will host "A Grave Affair at Osborn Cemetery," a lantern-lit walking tour featuring historical reenactments of early settlers and community leaders, on November 14, 15, 21, and 22. The event, held at one of Towns County’s oldest cemeteries, aims to bring local history to life while raising funds for the Berrong-Oakley House Restoration Project.


Tours are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. each evening, with parking available at Mayor's Park and shuttle service provided to Osborn Cemetery.


Tickets are priced at $20 for adults and $18 for children, with limited spots available. Reservations can be made online or by calling the Lake Chatuge Chamber Office at (706) 896-4966.


Organizers encourage early booking due to expected high demand. The event offers a unique opportunity to explore the region’s past through immersive storytelling in a historic setting.
