Towns County to Bury Time Capsule as Part of America 250 Observance

Staff Report
HIAWASSEE, Ga. — Towns County officials and the Towns County Historical Society will bury a time capsule next week as part of the county’s observance of America’s 250th anniversary.
The burial ceremony is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 20, at the Towns County Courthouse, 48 River St., Hiawassee, immediately following the 5:30 p.m. commissioners meeting. The public is invited to attend.
The project is a joint effort of Towns County and the Towns County Historical Society under the theme “Preserve Today. Inspire Tomorrow.”
Organizers describe the capsule as a way for residents to leave a record of the present for future generations during the national America 250 celebration.
