Two Men Injured in Shooting and Fight at Hot Spot Convenience Store Near Murphy, NC

Ranger/Murphy, NC  — Deputies from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office responded Saturday morning to a physical disturbance involving shots fired at the Hot Spot convenience store located at the intersection of US 129 and US 64 in the Ranger area outside Murphy.

Officers arrived around 10:30 a.m. and found two men injured. One male victim was suffering from a gunshot wound, while the second male had visible injuries consistent with a physical altercation.

The gunshot victim was airlifted by helicopter to a trauma center in Gainesville, Georgia. The second man was transported by Cherokee County EMS to Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital in Murphy for treatment. No updates on either man's condition were immediately available.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The Hot Spot is a 24-hour gas station and convenience store at 5560 West US Highway 64 that serves the local area and travelers.
