Union County Board of Education Earns Top Statewide Recognition

ree

BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — The Union County Board of Education has earned Exemplary School Board Status from the Georgia School Boards Association, the highest level of recognition awarded to school boards in the state.

The designation reflects months of work and a strong commitment to effective governance and educational excellence. To qualify, boards must meet rigorous requirements across nine categories: strategic planning, the Georgia Vision for Public Education, governance team self-assessment, superintendent evaluation, board training, board norms and protocols, accreditation, board member ethics, and fiscal responsibility.

The evaluation process includes detailed documentation, formal assessments, and evidence of sustained performance throughout the fiscal year from July 1 to June 30. Only a small number of Georgia’s 180 school districts achieve the Exemplary distinction each year.

The recognition highlights the Union County Board of Education’s dedication to transparency, continuous improvement, and student-focused leadership. The board’s achievement underscores its commitment to maintaining high standards of accountability and service to the community.
