The Union County Fire Department is proud to announce that Captain Damon Hood and Captain Justin Blanchard have successfully completed an 80-hour Fire Inspector course through the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC).

The two-week program provided extensive training in fire prevention and inspection practices. Participants studied fire and life safety requirements, code enforcement, hazard identification, inspection procedures, and methods for recognizing conditions that could create a threat to occupants or firefighters.

Fire inspectors play a key role in preventing fires before they occur by identifying potential hazards and helping ensure buildings meet applicable fire and life safety standards. The knowledge gained through this training will further strengthen the Union County Fire Department’s fire prevention and inspection capabilities.

“Fire prevention is an important part of our mission, and having personnel who are properly trained in fire inspection helps us protect our community before an emergency ever happens,” said Fire Chief David Dyer. “Captain Hood and Captain Blanchard invested two weeks into this training, demonstrating their commitment to professional development and to keeping the citizens of Union County safe.”

The Union County Fire Department congratulates Captain Hood and Captain Blanchard on completing this extensive training and thanks them for their continued dedication to fire prevention, public safety, and the department.
