Union County Fire Department Launches Annual Firefighter Training Class

BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — The Union County Fire Department (UCFD) kicked off its annual Support Firefighter Class, welcoming 17 candidates to the program designed to introduce them to the fire service and meet the minimum requirements to become a firefighter.


The week-long course began with an overview of the UCFD, covering essential topics such as fire service fundamentals, safety protocols, turnout gear, and fire hose operations. Each session combines classroom lectures with hands-on practical exercises to provide a comprehensive learning experience.


UCFD officials expressed enthusiasm for the new class, highlighting the opportunity to train and integrate new members into the department. The Support Firefighter Class is a critical step in preparing candidates for the challenges and responsibilities of firefighting.


The department looks forward to guiding these candidates through the program as they take their first steps toward serving the community as firefighters.
