Union County Fire Officials Complete ISO Training in Lumpkin County

BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — The Union County Fire Department congratulated Lieutenant Patrick Schmidt, Captains Jeff Fortenberry and Brent Long, and Fire Chief David Dyer for completing an Insurance Services Office (ISO) update class held in Lumpkin County, the department announced Wednesday.
The training, which took place recently, provided insights into the latest ISO standards and procedures critical for evaluating fire protection capabilities and determining community fire ratings. The class covered updates to ISO scoring criteria, documentation requirements, and strategies to enhance fire department readiness and community safety.
“This class helps ensure our department remains up to date with the latest standards,” Chief Dyer said. “Maintaining a strong ISO rating not only reflects our commitment to excellence but also helps lower insurance premiums for our residents and property owners.”
