Union County Firefighter Completes Pipeline Emergency Training

Staff Report
BLAIRSVILLE — The Union County Fire Department has announced that Firefighter Dustin Mowrey has completed two specialized pipeline emergency training courses.
Mowrey finished Pipeline Emergencies for Command Officer Strategies and Pipeline Emergencies: Air Monitoring. Each course was four hours long.
The training prepared emergency responders to recognize and safely manage incidents involving pipeline systems. Topics included incident command considerations, emergency response strategies, hazard identification, and the proper use of air-monitoring techniques to identify potentially dangerous atmospheric conditions.
“This type of specialized training gives our firefighters additional knowledge to recognize hazards and make informed decisions when responding to pipeline or other emergencies involving flammable gases,” Fire Chief David Dyer said. “Firefighter Mowrey’s commitment to continuing education helps strengthen our department’s ability to safely respond to a variety of emergencies.”
The department congratulated Mowrey on completing the courses and on his continued dedication to professional development and public safety.
