Firefighters with Union County Fire and Rescue have completed advanced training focused on responding to aviation emergencies, according to a recent department announcement.
Members of the department participated in the Basic Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting course at the Atlanta Fire Training Center. The program included 40 hours of online instruction followed by an additional 40 hours of hands-on training at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The comprehensive course covered a range of critical topics, including aircraft rescue and firefighting techniques, structural rescue methods tailored for airport environments, airport emergency planning, and both daytime and nighttime operational familiarization.
During the in-person portion of the training, firefighters participated in live aircraft fire simulations designed to build speed, accuracy, and coordination. Crews also trained with specialized equipment used in aviation emergency response scenarios.
Union County Fire and Rescue officials praised the firefighters for completing the rigorous program and expressed appreciation to the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department for providing a welcoming environment and high-quality instruction.
The department said the training enhances its ability to respond effectively to aviation-related incidents and strengthens overall emergency preparedness.
