BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — The Union County Panthers secured a hard-fought 3-1 win over the Coahulla Creek Colts in a thrilling softball matchup at home on Tuesday, September 9. The victory marked a rebound for the Panthers after a road loss on Monday and was their closest win since August 11.
The game remained a nail-biter until the end, with Union County (9-6) capitalizing on their home-field advantage to pull ahead. The Panthers’ pitching and defense held strong, limiting the Colts to just one run. This win snapped a streak of three consecutive losses to Coahulla Creek, including 5-1 and 8-0 defeats in their previous encounters last season.
Union County looks to carry their momentum into Thursday’s, Sept. 11 5:30 p.m. home game against Rockmart. Both teams boast stout defenses, with the Panthers allowing an average of 2.7 runs per game and the Yellow Jackets 3.5, setting the stage for a low-scoring battle.
