Union County Schools Applauds Strong Attendance, Progress Against Chronic Absenteeism

Union County Schools is celebrating strong attendance numbers districtwide, highlighting the commitment of students and families to showing up and staying engaged during the 2025–2026 school year.

According to district data, Union County Schools currently boasts an average daily attendance (ADA) rate of 95 percent, a key indicator of student engagement and academic consistency. District leaders say the numbers reflect a collective effort to combat chronic absenteeism and keep students connected to learning.

The latest attendance chart shows that more than 600 students maintain perfect attendance, an accomplishment school officials describe as both impressive and encouraging. In addition, the largest group of students has been absent 5 percent or less of enrolled school days, placing them well below the threshold typically associated with chronic absenteeism.

Smaller portions of the student population fall into higher absentee categories, with significantly fewer students missing 10 percent or more of the school year. District administrators say that trend demonstrates meaningful progress compared to previous years and underscores the impact of family engagement, communication, and student accountability.

“Your efforts are making a difference,” the district shared in a statement recognizing families and students. “Let’s finish the year strong.”

School leaders emphasize that consistent attendance is closely linked to academic success, social development, and long-term outcomes for students. As the school year continues, Union County Schools says it will remain focused on encouraging daily attendance while recognizing those who continue to set the standard.

District officials encourage families to keep prioritizing attendance and to reach out to schools for support if challenges arise, noting that every day in the classroom matters.
