Union County Schools Consistent in Excellence on 2024–2025 Georgia Milestones

BLAIRSVILLE, GA — Union County Schools is proud to report another year of strong performance on the 2024–2025 Georgia Milestones, with students consistently earning top placements in Pioneer RESA and competitive rankings statewide from the early grades through high school.
Pioneer RESA (Regional Educational Service Agency) is a cooperative of 14 public school systems in Northeast Georgia that work together to improve education through shared resources and professional learning. Member systems include: Banks County, Dawson County, Fannin County, Franklin County, Gainesville City, Habersham County, Hall County, Hart County, Lumpkin County, Rabun County, Stephens County, Towns County, Union County, & White County.
This year’s results highlight a clear pattern—Union County students are performing at a high level year after year, in multiple subjects, and across all grade spans. From strong reading foundations in the early grades to rigorous math achievement in middle school and competitive high school end-of-course scores, the district continues to prove its ability to deliver results at every stage of a student’s academic journey.
Elementary School Highlights:
At the elementary level, Union County students posted some of the highest rankings in the region. 5th grade English Language Arts led all Pioneer RESA districts, finishing #1 of 14 in Developing & Above. 3rd grade also shined, taking #2 of 14 in Proficient & Above in ELA and #3 of 14 in Developing & Above, while in math, they placed #2 of 14 in Proficient & Above. 4th grade math ranked among the top three (#3 of 14) in the region, and 5th grade math finished in the top two (#2 of 14). These results reflect a strong start that builds a solid academic foundation for future success.
Middle School Highlights:
At the middle school level, Union County’s momentum continued. 7th grade mathematics ranked #1 of 14 in Pioneer RESA for Proficient & Above. 6th grade placed #2 of 14 in Proficient & Above for ELA and #2 of 14 in both Developing & Above and Proficient & Above for math. This consistent presence at the top of regional rankings demonstrates the district’s ability to maintain high performance as students advance into more challenging coursework.
High School Highlights:
High school results capped off the year with equally strong showings. Algebra finished #2 of 14 in Pioneer RESA for Proficient & Above and ranked Top 15 of 181 Georgia public school systems. U.S. History placed #2 of 14 in the region and ranked Top 20 of 181 statewide. American Literature ranked #2 of 14 regionally for Proficient & Above and placed Top 25 of 181 in the state, while Biology finished #3 of 14 in Pioneer RESA. These results illustrate that Union County students are leaving high school well-prepared for college, careers, and beyond.
