Union County Sheriff's Lieutenant Earns Intermediate Certification

BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — A Union County Sheriff's Office lieutenant has achieved a significant milestone in his law enforcement career by earning an Intermediate Certification from the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council. The certification required completing over 100 hours of specialized training courses that meet the council's standards.


Lieutenant Dustin Walker began his career in 2008 with the sheriff's office in the Jail Division. He became a certified Peace Officer in 2011 after completing the Basic Mandate Course. Over the years, Walker has pursued additional certifications, including Supervisory, Managerial, and Field Training Officer credentials.


As the agency's Training Coordinator, Walker develops lesson plans, instructs courses, and organizes training programs for personnel. He holds instructor certifications in multiple areas, including General Instruction, Speed Detection, Firearms, Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, and Emergency Medical, his most recent addition.


The Union County Sheriff's Office recognized Walker's achievement, noting his commitment to professional development and service to the community.
