Union County Softball Defeats Rockmart 3-1 in Regional Clash

BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — The Union County High School varsity softball team secured a 3-1 victory over Rockmart in a tightly contested home region game on Thursday, Sept. 11.
The game remained scoreless through six innings, with both teams' defenses holding strong. Rockmart broke the deadlock in the top of the seventh, scoring one run. Union County responded in the bottom of the frame, erupting for three runs to clinch the win.
Union County improved to 10-6 overall and 4-3 in region play with the victory. The Panthers, now 7-2 at home, have scored 90 runs while allowing 42 this season, boasting a .625 winning percentage.
Rockmart, ranked No. 105 nationally and No. 42 in Georgia, fell to 12-4 overall and 7-2 in region play. Despite the loss, the Yellow Jackets maintain a strong .750 winning percentage, having scored 97 runs and allowed 56 this season.
The win strengthens Union County’s position in the region standings as they continue their push toward the postseason. The Lady Panthers will host North Murray for a double-header on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
