BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — Community members are being invited to take part in a spring clean-up effort at Lake Nottely later this month.
The Lake Nottely Improvement Association will host the volunteer event on Saturday, April 18, beginning at 9 a.m. Participants are asked to meet at 843 Lakeside Drive in Blairsville.
Organizers say the goal is to remove trash from coves around the lake and help preserve its natural beauty. Volunteers will be transported by pontoon boats to designated areas, where teams will collect debris before returning to the boat ramp.
Supplies including garbage bags, gloves and grabbers will be provided. Coffee and snacks will be available before the cleanup, and lunch from Chick-fil-A will be served afterward.
Participants are encouraged to wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirty and boots or shoes suitable for muddy conditions. Families and groups are welcome to attend.
The cleanup is expected to conclude around 1 p.m., when volunteers will return to the boat ramp for lunch.
The event is supported by funding from the Tennessee Valley Authority and assistance from Union County Government, which is providing a free trash dumpster for the effort.
