The Andrews High School gymnasium was rocking on Tuesday night, December 9, 2025, as both the Lady Wildcats and Wildcats varsity basketball teams delivered commanding victories over visiting Nantahala in a conference/non-conference doubleheader.


Lady Wildcats Roll to 56-19 Conference Win

In the opener at 6 p.m., the Andrews Lady Wildcats set the tone early and never looked back, cruising to a 56-19 victory in Smoky Mountain Conference play.


The Lady Wildcats' suffocating defense held Nantahala scoreless in multiple quarters (exact quarter-by-quarter breakdown unavailable), limiting the visitors to just 19 total points. Offensively, Andrews found its rhythm quickly and maintained control throughout, building a lead that proved insurmountable.


The win improves the Lady Wildcats' conference record and continues their strong start to the season, showcasing the depth and defensive intensity that has become a hallmark of the program.


Wildcats Follow with Explosive 87-40 Non-Conference Victory

An hour later at 7 p.m., the Andrews boys took the court and put on an offensive clinic, overwhelming Nantahala 87-40 in a non-conference matchup.


The Wildcats jumped out to a 20-17 lead after the first quarter and poured it on from there:

  • Q1: Andrews 20, Nantahala 17

  • Q2: Andrews 28, Nantahala 5

  • Q3: Andrews 21, Nantahala 7

  • Q4: Andrews 18, Nantahala 11

  • Final: Andrews 87, Nantahala 40


Andrews scored at least 18 points in every quarter and held Nantahala to single digits in the second and third periods. The balanced attack and relentless pressure forced turnovers and created easy transition opportunities all night.


The blowout victory highlighted the Wildcats’ firepower and depth, sending a clear message to the rest of their non-conference opponents.


A Statement Night in Andrews

With both teams securing decisive wins on their home floor, Tuesday’s doubleheader was a complete success for Andrews basketball. The Lady Wildcats and Wildcats combined to outscore Nantahala 143-59 on the evening, delighting the home crowd and giving coaches plenty to build on moving forward.


Up next, both Andrews squads will look to carry this momentum into their home battle with Franklin on Monday, Dec. 15.
