HAYESVILLE, N.C. — The Hayesville Yellow Jackets delivered a commanding performance Friday night, crushing the Copper Basin Cougars 41-8 in a one-sided high school football matchup.
Unlike their narrow 28-27 victory over Copper Basin in 2019, the last time the teams faced off, Hayesville left no doubt this time, building an insurmountable 27-0 lead by halftime. The Jackets’ relentless offense and stingy defense overwhelmed the Cougars, securing their second consecutive win and improving their season record to 2-1.
Hayesville’s defense has been a cornerstone of their early success, allowing just 28 points across their two victories this season. Meanwhile, Copper Basin struggled to find rhythm, falling to 0-3 and extending their losing streak to four games dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, Hayesville will aim to keep their momentum going when they host Georgia Force Christian on Friday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
