The Hayesville Yellow Jackets traveled to Murphy on Saturday, Nov. 1, hoping to turn the tables on the Bulldogs after a tough loss earlier this season. Unfortunately, history repeated itself, and Hayesville fell 2-0 to Murphy.
The Yellow Jackets struggled to find the back of the net, and a yellow card for standout player Hayden Hunt seemed to limit the team’s aggressiveness at key moments. Despite their efforts, Hayesville was unable to break through the Bulldogs’ defense.
The loss marked Hayesville’s fourth consecutive road defeat, dropping their record to 5-8-1. Murphy, meanwhile, secured the Smoky Mountain Conference championship and improved to 14-3-1 on the season.
Even with the setback, Hayesville is turning its attention to the upcoming NCHSAA tournament. The Yellow Jackets will host Eno River Academy in the first round on Tuesday, Nov. 4, looking to make a strong postseason showing on home turf.
Coach and players alike are hopeful that the team’s home-field advantage and preparation will help them start the tournament with a win.
