ANDREWS, N.C. — Mayor James Reid announced that new GPS systems are being ordered for the town’s three traffic signal lights to enhance coordination, following a discussion with North Carolina Department of Transportation official Steven Buchanan.
The implementation is expected to address current issues with the signals, with completion projected within one to two weeks. Reid expressed gratitude to Kevin Corbin and Karl Gillespie for their contributions to the project and urged residents to remain patient during the upgrade process.
Until the work is complete, the mayor advised caution at intersections with flashing red lights, recommending drivers treat them as four-way stops. Reid emphasized the importance of vigilance, citing personal observations of the need for heightened awareness at these locations.
