Press Release
HAYESVILLE, N.C. – During the week of Sept. 2, Tennessee Valley Authority crews will be conducting geotechnical inspections of the ground beneath the bridge across Chatuge Dam Road near the dam reservation.
This boring/drilling work will require the closure of one lane on each side of the bridge over a two-day period that week as conditions allow. Signage will be posted, with flaggers also present.
There will also be a partial closure of the parking lot accessed by pedestrians who walk the road as well as Chatuge Dam Trail. A portion of that parking area will still be accessible, and pedestrians are asked to exercise caution due to ongoing work activities.
The bridge across Chatuge Dam Road is safe. This inspection works helps to ensure the stability and safety of the foundation as TVA prepares for future work in the area. Safety is a priority for TVA, and we appreciate the public’s patience as we work to ensure the health and sustainability of this valuable community asset.
