YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. — Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church has partnered with the American Red Cross to host a Community Blood Drive on Thursday, July 2, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the church located at 1114 Main Street in Young Harris.
Organizers are encouraging area residents to take just one hour out of their day to donate blood, described as “the gift of life” that saves countless lives each year. The drive will run for five hours, giving donors plenty of convenient windows to participate.
Those interested are asked to preregister online at www.RedCrossBlood.org to help the Red Cross better anticipate turnout. Using the sponsor code SharpUMC will make it easier to locate this specific event during registration.
“Don’t know if you’re eligible to give blood? Show up and find out,” church leaders said. “If you’re not eligible to donate, we would still love to have you volunteer at the drive.”
Anyone interested in volunteering or needing more information should contact the Sharp Memorial UMC church office.
Blood donations are critically important for hospitals and emergency services across Northeast Georgia and Western North Carolina. One donation can potentially help multiple patients, including trauma victims, surgery patients, cancer patients, and those with blood disorders.
Your participation — whether donating blood or volunteering your time — is greatly appreciated and makes a direct impact in the local community.
