Press Release

A Cherokee County man was arrested following a vehicle pursuit and collision with law enforcement on Friday, October 31, 2025.

A Narcotics Agent with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop after discovering that the vehicle driven by Kobe Carter of Murphy had an expired registration. Carter failed to stop and attempted to flee from law enforcement, prompting a pursuit.

As the Agent maneuvered to position the patrol vehicle, Carter’s vehicle swerved and collided with it, forcing both vehicles into the parking lot of the Old Martins Creek School. The Agent was then able to end the pursuit.

Following the collision, the Agent issued commands to Carter, who complied. Carter was taken into custody without further incident. A search of the vehicle yielded contraband as well as two firearms.

• Felony Flee to Elude

• Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Law Enforcement Officer

• Possession of Marijuana

• Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia

• Reckless Driving to Endanger

• Failure to Heed Lights or Siren

• Expired Inspection

Carter’s bond was set at $50,000 secured, and his initial court appearance is scheduled for November 4, 2025.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
