CHEROKEE COUNTY, N.C. — All middle and high school students in Cherokee County Schools must view a state-required safety awareness video within the first five days of the school year, as mandated by North Carolina General Statute 143B-1209.100, officials announced Wednesday.
The initiative, part of a statewide effort, aims to equip students with the knowledge to recognize, avoid, and report unsafe situations. Parents may opt their children out of the program by completing and returning an opt-out form to their child’s school. If no form is submitted, students will be required to watch the video.
