Clay County Farmers Market Returns for 2026 Season

HAYESVILLE, N.C. — The Clay County Farmers Market is set to open for its 2026 season on Thursday, May 21, and will run every Thursday through September 24, giving residents and visitors 18 weeks to enjoy fresh local produce, handmade goods, and community connection.

The market will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each Thursday at the Hayesville Town Square. Organizers encourage attendees to “support local farmers, savor delicious foods, and embrace sustainable living” in a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere.

The market highlights the region’s agricultural heritage with fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, artisanal products, and more from Clay County and surrounding area producers. A classic blue pickup truck illustration on the promotional materials — overflowing with corn, peppers, apples, and other harvest items — underscores the market’s focus on local agriculture.

Vendor registration is now open. Interested farmers, artisans, and food producers can sign up online at go.ncsu.edu/clayfarmersmarket or by calling (828) 389-6305.

The market is coordinated by the NC Cooperative Extension, with support from NC State University and N.C. A&T State University. The Extension describes itself as an equal opportunity provider.

Located in the scenic mountains of western North Carolina, the Hayesville Town Square market has become a beloved summer tradition, offering a place for neighbors to gather, shop local, and celebrate the bounty of the region.
