Clay County Festival on The Square Marks 45th Year with Music, Art and Food

HAYESVILLE, N.C. — The Clay County Historical and Arts Council will host its 45th annual Festival on The Square this weekend, featuring live music, clogging performances, local art vendors and food from a popular regional barbecue spot.


The free event is scheduled for Friday, July 10, through Sunday, July 12, on the square in Hayesville. Hours are 7-9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.


Friday night will feature a street dance with Quick Brown Fox performing from 7-9 p.m.


Saturday’s lineup includes The John C. Campbell Folk School Cloggers from 10-10:40 a.m. and Rob Tiger, Wyatt Espalin and Erin Worley from noon-2 p.m.


Sunday performances begin at noon with Colton James from noon-1 p.m., followed by Cornbread Ted from 1-2 p.m. and The Skirvin Family Band from 2-4 p.m.


Local and regional art vendors will offer original creations Saturday and Sunday. Food will be available from Hawg Wild BBQ & Catfish House.


The festival celebrates local history and the arts in the community. The North Carolina Arts Council is among the supporters.
