A longtime member of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office has received one of the highest professional honors available to law enforcement officers in North Carolina.
Sergeant Ethan Henderson was recently awarded the Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate by the North Carolina Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission during a ceremony in Raleigh.
The Advanced Certificate is the highest level of recognition issued by the state’s training commission. It is awarded to officers who demonstrate a combination of extensive service time, advanced education, and specialized training.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Henderson has served as a sworn law enforcement officer in North Carolina for 14 years. During that time, he has completed a significant amount of specialized training, meeting the rigorous requirements set by the state.
Law enforcement agencies across North Carolina are regulated by standards commissions that oversee training and certification. These commissions offer General, Intermediate, and Advanced certificates as officers progress through their careers and gain additional experience and education.
Henderson’s achievement marks a major milestone in his career and reflects his continued commitment to professional development and service to the community.
