The Clay County Sheriff's Office is inviting community members to participate in its upcoming Citizens Academy, with Session #11 scheduled to begin on Monday, June 1, 2026.

In response to feedback and a desire to boost participation, organizers have condensed the program into a more accessible four-day format spread over two weeks. Classes will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays from June 1 through June 9, running from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. each session.
The Citizens Academy provides residents with valuable insights into law enforcement operations, including departmental procedures, public safety initiatives, and the daily responsibilities of sheriff’s office personnel. It serves as an excellent opportunity for citizens to build stronger connections with local law enforcement and gain a deeper understanding of how the agency serves the community.
Enrollment is currently open and will remain so through Friday, May 29, 2026. Interested individuals can pick up an application at the front desk of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, located at 295 Courthouse Drive, Hayesville, NC 28904. Applications are also available online at the sheriff’s office website: https://www.clayso.com/.
Space is limited, and early applications are encouraged to secure a spot in the program.
