Hiawassee Launches “The Essence of Hiawassee” Photo Contest

HIAWASSEE, Ga. — The City of Hiawassee has officially kicked off its 2026 photo contest, inviting residents, visitors, and photographers of all ages to showcase what makes this mountain lakeside community special.

Titled “The Essence of Hiawassee,” the contest runs from June 15 through July 15, 2026. Participants are encouraged to submit high-resolution photographs that capture the town’s landscapes, people, events, and community life — essentially answering the question: “What are your favorite things about living, working in, and/or visiting Hiawassee?”

How to Enter

Entrants may submit up to three original high-resolution .jpg images (horizontal orientation preferred) via the Photo Contest link on the City’s website: hiawasseeega.gov. All photos must be original work taken by the entrant and cannot include AI-generated, stock, previously published, or infringing content.

The contest is open to residents and visitors of all ages, with special provisions for minors under 18 (parent/guardian consent required).

Prizes

• Grand Prize: $250 Gift Card + the winning photo featured on the City’s website and social media

• Second Place: $100 Gift Card

• Third Place: $50 Gift Card

• Honorable Mentions: City of Hiawassee gift packs

A City-selected panel will judge entries based on adherence to the theme, creativity/originality, and technical quality.
